BBQ Bean Sliders

BBQ Bean Sliders
Ingredients
3 cups cooked kidney beans*
1 1/2 cups grated zucchini (about 2 medium)
1/2 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons soy sauce or tamari
2 teaspoons liquid smoke**
1 teaspoon of your favorite no salt, all purpose seasoning blend
1/2 cup bread crumbs***

Directions

Warm the oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. 

Make the burgers: Add the beans to a large bowl and mash those fuckers up with a potato masher or large spoon until a sorta paste forms. A coupe of larger bean chunks are cool. Add the zucchini, onion, garlic, oil, soy sauce or tamari, liquid smoke, and seasoning blend and mix until it's all distributed. Fold in the bread crumbs and stir that shit around until there are no dry patches and everything is uniform. This should feel slightly sticky and hold nicely when you form it into a ball. If its too wet, add more bread crumbs. Too dry? Add some oil. Stop lookin for excuses why you're a bad cook and learn to think on your feet motherfucker. Taste and add more spices and whatever until it tasted good enough to you. CAN'T DO THAT SHIT WITH GROUND BEEF.

Form the mixture into 12 patties if you are making sliders or 6 patties if you are making regular burgers. Whateverthefuck you wanna do. Place them on the baking sheet, spray them lightly with oil, and bake, flipping halfway, until they look a lil golden brown, 35-40 minutes. If you're doing full-size burgers you might need to let them go 10 extra minutes.

To assemble the burgers, coat the patties with our Homemade BBQ Sauce in TK2 or your go-to BBQ sauce and smear a generous amount on both sides of the buns. There's no such thing as too much BBQ sauce. Pile with your favorite burger toppings like slaw, pickles, lettuce, tomato, whatever your shit is- do it up. Serve within an hour of assembling so that your bun isn't a sad soggy pile of mush. 

 

* Two 15-ounce cans drained and rinsed are totally fine here. Black beans are a good sub too. 

** Calm the fuck down, this is near the BBQ sauce at the grocery store. 

*** Any kind of regular bread crumbs you have are fine. Go nothing? Just toast up some bread until it is almost burnt looking and real dry, then grate it or put it in a food processor to get some tiny ass crumbs. They help soak up all the liquid so if you think about leaving this shit out, you're gonna fuck it up.
